Learn basic watercolor skills: materials selection, wet on wet technique, wet on dry, blank space, highlighting with ink, subject layout and sketching. This course will provide students with one-on-one instruction to make floral bookmarks and greeting cards in a fun, relaxed, informal class. Each person will take home with them the paints and ink pens. Please note additional fee mentioned above.

This is a beginning class for those who are interested in learning how to knit. If you have never knitted before and not sure you have what it takes, or would just like to try, this is the class for you. We plan to teach how to cast on and use three knitting stitches (garter, stockinette and seed stitches). Completion of a smaller scale project is our goal. Beginning supplies will be made available to learn with, or you are welcome to bring or purchase your own supplies. No specific needle size is required to start.

Participants engage in a listening tour of jazz history from its New Orleans roots to modern styles and influences. Through seminal recordings by significant jazz musicians, we explore the key musical elements and social influences of jazz music. Students will be provided with opportunities to explore their own specific jazz listening interests.

This course explores the life of Beethoven and his music from the early years through his growing deafness and how it altered his approach to composing and performing. The symphonies, piano sonatas, concertos, choral music and string quartets will all be listened to and explored as to their place in the classical and romantic periods. The course will use videos, lectures and discussions to understand the complexities of his life. This class is offered Mondays in Lewes; and Wednesdays in Ocean View.

This course, which includes ample visuals and maps, covers WWII in the Pacific theater, from the lead-up to the war through the Japanese surrender. Students learn about the military campaigns between Japan and the United States and its allies.

A five-part course exploring music of the Americas as a living system shaped by rhythm, movement and culture. Through Beat Routes (paths and tributaries that delivered people and rhythms), participants trace how polyrhythm and harmony with migration transformed music across the Americas to create everything from samba, bluegrass, R&B, salsa and techno. Music is presented as a connected, evolving system of memory and expression. Involves playing vintage and modern instruments.

This class examines the leadership of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy. Those presidents possessed high values and steered America through troubled times that included the Civil War, World War II and the Cuban Missile Crisis. They consistently placed the interests of their country above politics and had the ability to unite the American people behind common goals and aspirations.

This course explores the cultural heritage of the Pacific Islands through dances from places such as Hawaii, Tahiti, New Zealand and the Philippines. The class emphasizes enjoyment while developing physical fitness, including stamina, balance and coordination. A beginner level course, the class may be taken several times for exercise. Participants should wear comfortable clothing.

This class covers how to quiet the mind and reset through breathwork and meditation. Participants learn about the neurobiology of our brain and the impact on our emotions. We learn breathing techniques to help quiet the mind and allow the body to enter a state of rest and digest. We also learn and practice meditation/mindfulness techniques, which can be used on a daily basis to help calm our body and reduce anxiety and nervousness.

This course will be a discussion group, with worksheet handouts and a weekly meditation on the work of Don Miguel Ruiz. We explore how to master the dream of your life / self-mastery, each week focusing on one agreement from the book. We discuss individual interpretations and how it can apply to each person’s life, ending each class with a meditation that connects to the material discussed.

Dances taught in this program bring a great variety of music and steps from countries and cultures around the world. We present beautiful rhythms and movements that are fun, uplifting and easy to learn. No experience or dance partners are necessary. Dances are from Greece, Israel, Russia, Serbia, Bolivia, Turkey and many other regions. Dancing is one of the best ways to exercise both mind and body, improve stamina and balance, meet people and have fun. This class will be using simpler dances as it is geared towards beginners.

Beginner players will learn tiles, hands, play and strategies using a 300 point “pie.” Support and solutions will be available during play, as well as league news updates.

Mah Jongg Club is for those who already know how to play and are looking to improve their skills. Participants should be experienced players using the National Mah Jongg League card, rules and etiquette. Pie will be set at 400 points. No instruction will be provided. Participants should bring their own 2025 card. When registering, please sign up for the Monday section in Lewes, or the Wednesday section in Ocean View.
