Osher Lifelong Learning Institute

OLLI Wilmington member feature—Betsey and Neil Cullen

“Originally, we learned about OLLI from neighbors, and Betsey enrolled in a poetry course. Later we enrolled in classes together, and we were off and running. Betsey writes and teaches poetry. Since then, we’ve co-taught a poetry course and have taken a smattering of the many offerings, including drawing, painting, history, science and philosophy.”

“Lifelong learning enables us to learn, to remain vital, to meet new friends and to enjoy the social gatherings and music programs at OLLI. We value this enough to volunteer, teach and serve on some of OLLI’s many committees. As members of this learning cooperative, we can help sustain OLLI’s excellence by sharing in its governance.”

“We feel blessed to live so near to this invaluable resource. And the price is right. Since all teachers are volunteers, the school can maintain relatively low member fees. Further, members who cannot afford the fees can apply for financial assistance. We encourage all of our friends and neighbors to consider joining OLLI since it has proved so important to our lives.”

Neil and Betsey Cullen of West Chester, Pa., are active members of the OLLI program in Wilmington.
