This course explores the history and culture of Anglo-Saxon England from its roots in late Roman Britain through the Viking Age to the Norman Conquest. Using archaeological, literary and historical sources, we examine migration, the formation of kingdoms, the spread of Christianity, everyday life and the creation of a distinctive English identity.
