Tuesday: 10:45 AM-12:00 PM

Course examines the well-established legal standard “beyond a reasonable doubt” and its application in the American judicial system, including law enforcement, criminal prosecution, legal defense and to the layperson (jury). Course also addresses the burden of proof differences between criminal and civil cases. Final session includes a presentation by class volunteers (prosecutor and defense counsel) to the jury (class) of an actual major case.

INSTRUCTOR: Cornelius Sullivan

SULLIVAN, CORNELIUS — B.S., Iona University. Served 22 years in law enforcement as the commanding officer of a detective division; 24 years in the insurance industry investigating and supervising major cases (jewelry, fine arts, maritime). One case had a book written and movie made about it. Exercise enthusiast. Loves being a grandfather.
