The universe is vast and complicated and bizarre. Yet, most people believe the mind to be a mirror, more or less accurately reflecting that universe. Equipped with five senses, man explores his universe and calls the conclusions first religion, then philosophy, and finally, science. That science creates artificial intelligence. Explore the topsy-turvy universe, some myths and theories concerning how it was created, its climate corollaries, some human intelligence limitations, and artificial intelligence.

JOHNSON, CHARLES — Retired associate professor, chair of arts and science and assistant dean, Goldey-Beacom College. Taught survey of western civilization courses for many years. Has traveled abroad extensively with family for pleasure as well as with students while leading educational for-credit trips.
