In the waning days of transatlantic travel by sea, a revolutionary new ocean liner captured the imagination of the American people. For 17 short years, she was a floating example of American ingenuity, strength and style. Her afterlife was more than triple her glory days, and her legend lived on. Recently back in the news, the S.S. United States and her long saga make for a fascinating tale.
