HOW AMERICAN WOMEN WON THE RIGHT TO VOTE (G561)

G – History

It took 72 years from the first public demand for woman suffrage in 1848 to the passage of the 19th amendment in 1920, giving women the vote. We’ll take a closer look at this long and fascinating struggle, learning about the women who led the movement, such as Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Alice Paul, as well as the broader social and political forces that shaped the outcome. We’ll conclude by considering what lessons we can apply today from their heroic efforts.
