Required text: James, Percival Everett #978 0 385 55036 9. We read and discuss the current National Book Award-winning novel, James by Percival Everett, which is a brilliant reimagining of the Mark Twain masterpiece, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Participants should reacquaint themselves with the Twain novel before attending the class to fully appreciate this new novel.

INSTRUCTOR: Robert Heifetz

HEIFETZ, ROBERT — B.A., English/education, M.A., Queens College. Taught high school English in New York for five years, in Connecticut for 25 years, including American literature honors program for over 20 years and English electives, such as creative writing. Participated in numerous poetry and book groups and taught the Bible as literature to church and synagogue groups. (H342, H343)
