This course discusses the rule of law in the U.S. and its importance to the proper functioning of a democracy. It explores this concept by examining specific examples of how it operates, including the federal rule-making process, presidential executive power limitations, the law enforcement roll of the U.S. Department of Justice, and the relationship between lawyers and judges in litigation. It is a discussion course including lectures but also offers opportunities for student participation.
