DRAWING CARTOONS: WORKSHOP (B381)

B – Fine Arts

Prerequisite: Drawing Cartoons course or some drawing ability. Do you have some drawing ability and a sense of humor? Cartoon Workshop may be for you. There will be no drawing instruction in this class. Each week, the group will brainstorm ideas for cartoon topics. Participants will then produce a single-panel cartoon or multi-panel strip either using the brainstormed topic or their own topic. At the end of class, cartoons will be shared. If desired, cartoons will be submitted to the OLLI Weekly Update or OLLI Newsletter for possible publication.

VARLAS, BECKY — B.S., journalism, M.A., counseling and guidance, West Virginia University. Retired after 36 years as an educator, 33 of those spent as a school counselor in Cecil County, Maryland. Interests include reading, drawing, aqua fitness and music.

PEO, SUSAN — Retired school band director, A.A., visual communications, B.M., music education and performance, M.M., trumpet performance, University of Delaware. Currently pursuing interests in art, music and drama such as painting, sculpting, cartooning, acting, conducting and playing trumpet/ cornet in multiple ensembles.
