Discover how soil supports life, food, gardens, and the environment. No science background is needed — just curiosity. Through discussions and demonstrations, participants will explore soil formation, underground biology, plant nutrition, climate impacts, and practical ways to improve soil health in Mid-Atlantic backyards, including basic soil testing and sustainable land-care practices.

INSTRUCTOR: Sapana Pokhrel

POKHREL, SAPANA — Postdoctoral researcher in UD’s Department of Plant and Soil Sciences whose teaching and research focus is on soil nutrient management and sustainable crop production. She has experience lecturing at Delaware Nutrient Management Sessions and working with the Master Gardener program at Virginia Tech. She enjoys translating complex scientific information into simple, accessible concepts through demonstrations and analogies, making it easier for diverse audiences to understand and apply.
