IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOON (SE267)

SE – Special Event

Lewes (Trinity Faith Education Building) | June 22, 2026-June 22, 2026

Monday: 9:00 AM-10:15 AM

Course added since catalog publication.

This is a hybrid course. One section meets on site at the location listed; and one section meets online only.

In one of nature’s remarkable sights, day turns to night as the Moon passes in front of the Sun, blotting out the Sun’s brilliance and exposing the beautiful solar corona. Stars and planets appear as the sky darkens, animals react in strange ways, and many humans will travel miles to see a rare occurrence, as the shadow of the Moon passes across planet Earth. See how and when to safely see solar eclipses, how eclipses occur, how the phases of the Moon determine what type of eclipse we see, and how our small Moon can completely eclipse our enormous Sun. We will also highlight the details of this August’s total solar eclipse, visible in Iceland where a group of OLLI members will be traveling, and visible here in Delaware as a partial solar eclipse.

This offering meets for a total of 1 session(s).

INSTRUCTOR: Jim O’Leary
