Wednesday: 9:30 AM-11:30 AM

This course is for experienced DNA testers ready to analyze results at an advanced level. Participants will use GEDmatch and major testing platforms to interpret chromosome data, evaluate matches and identify shared ancestors. The course focuses on proven strategies to break genealogical brick walls using real DNA evidence. Prior DNA testing and a working family tree are required.

INSTRUCTOR: Janice Roots

ROOTS, JANICE — B.A., psychology, Cheyney University. Community advocate, retired medical education administrator and descendent of those sold at the Great Slave Auction of 1859. Works at the intersection of history, public health and reparative justice. With more than 30 years of genealogical research experience, has successfully traced ancestral lines, confirmed kinship through most recent common ancestors (MRCAs) and connected with descendants across generations and regions.
