Required text: Any edition of Herman Melville, Moby Dick will be appropriate. The Penguin Classics edition (ISBN-13 978-0142437247; or ISBN-10 0142437247) has end notes which might be helpful. We will engage in a close reading of Herman Melville’s Moby Dick, a classic of not only American but world literature. Some of you may have already experienced it in high school or college. But we’re finally old enough now to understand it.
