THE SLOW ART EXPERIENCE (A207)

A – Art History and Appreciation

Slow art is not about learning what the “experts” or even the artists think, but about making discoveries and building a personal connection with artworks. It is a sensory-focused, mindful experience that helps us be fully present to the details of shape, color, rhythm and movement, and to explore how we relate to the work. For 15 silent minutes, we explore one work each class, letting its magic work on us. Trained facilitators will then guide a group discussion of our varied perspectives.

BATTAGLIA, DANIELLE — B.S., chemistry, University of New York, MBA, marketing, University of Maryland, A.A., graphic design, DCC. She currently publishes a newsletter for her community, dabbles at improv and tai chi at OLLI, but her passion is rowing on the Christina River.

GRIFFIN, CAROL — M.B.A., George Washington University, B.A., University of Maryland. Retired from Brandywine Conservancy and Museum of Art. Currently a senior guide at the Delaware Art Museum. Master Class certified by the Thinking Museum, Amsterdam, Netherlands in slow art techniques.
