CP – Performing Arts Participation

Tuesday: 2:30 PM-3:45 PM

In this class we will be playing, discovering and exploring the genre called the blues, learning about progressions (12 bar, 8 bar, etc.), arrangements, how to solo, and the entire concept of playing the blues. We explore different styles like Chicago blues, contemporary blues, Delta blues, Texas blues, blues rock, and swamp blues just to name a few. It will be a chance for everybody to open up, learn and experience the blues.

This offering meets for a total of 13 session(s).


INSTRUCTORS: Rick Memmel, Paul Sherin

MEMMEL, RICHARD (RICK) — B.S., mathematics and computer science, State University of New York at Albany; M.S., mathematics (topology), Colorado State University. Computer programmer, CADD (computer aided design and drafting) manager and GIS (geographic information systems) analyst for the State of Wyoming.

SHERIN, PAUL — A percussionist who plays all genres of music from rock through orchestral symphonic. After retiring, has played in as many musical groups and orchestras as possible. Forced by COVID to find different performance opportunities and motivated to explore online music.
